St. Regis Goa | April 2024
A modern destination wedding in Goa centred around family, meaningful moments and a beautiful celebration without unnecessary excess.
Ajita and Shashank were planning their wedding from California, with the two of them making every decision from thousands of miles away.
Ajita was the calm, warm presence throughout the planning process, while Shashank was the go-getter who kept things moving and made decisions happen.
With their roots spanning North India and Bangalore, and their lives now in California, their wedding was a coming together of families, cultures and journeys in one beautiful setting—Goa.
Ajita and Shashank wanted a celebration that felt contemporary and elegant without going overboard on décor.
For them, the wedding wasn’t about creating the most elaborate setup. It was about spending meaningful time with their families and friends and creating memories they would carry with them long after the celebrations were over.
The wedding day was the centrepiece—a beautiful beach celebration on the shores of Goa, with a floral mandap in modern pastel tones creating an elegant setting against the sea.
One of the things that made this wedding special was how relaxed it felt.
With a guest list limited to close family and friends, there was never a feeling of rushing from one moment to the next. The celebrations had room to breathe, allowing everyone to genuinely spend time together.
The Sangeet brought a different kind of energy, with a popular stand-up comedian joining the family performances and keeping everyone entertained.
And because the wedding ceremony was scheduled late into the night for the muhurat, we found an opportunity earlier in the evening to make the most of Goa’s golden hour.
The Varmala took place against the setting sun, giving the couple—and the photographer—the kind of warm, fleeting light that simply can’t be recreated.
For Ajita and Shashank, our role covered the planning and coordination behind the celebrations, including:
Working closely with the property to ensure every aspect of the celebrations was planned and aligned.
Creating the flow and structure for each celebration while keeping the overall experience relaxed and unhurried.
Bringing their vision of a modern, elegant celebration to life through a soft pastel floral palette and a beachside mandap.
Coordinating the creative and operational teams involved in bringing the wedding together.
Every now and then, in the middle of everything happening around her, she’d look out for our team to make sure we were comfortable, had eaten and were doing okay. And somewhere between managing vendors, timelines and the celebrations, she would also find the time to compliment us on how beautiful everything looked. For a bride who had trusted us to bring her wedding together from thousands of miles away, that small gesture meant a lot. It’s one of those moments that reminds us that wedding planning is ultimately about people.
Planning a destination wedding from another country can come with its own set of challenges.
For Ajita and Shashank, our role was to be their team on the ground in Goa—coordinating the venue, planning the celebrations, managing vendors and bringing their vision together while they planned from California.
The result wasn’t about doing more.
It was about doing what mattered to them, thoughtfully.
